IWC Schaffhausen Mark XVIII Top Gun Miramar

IWC Schaffhausen’s Top Gun tribute series to the 1986 film has become one of the watch brand’s most popular lines within the Pilot collection since its introduction in 2012, making the unveiling of the Mark XVIII Top Gun Miramar at this year’s SIHH watch fair a natural progression. Encased in a 41mm ceramic case, the timepiece stays true to its Miramar lineage with a minute and seconds on the main chapter ring and hours on the inner red chapter ring. This mirrors the historical need for military and aviation-geared watches to accurately display seconds, which were crucial to determining location in an era before advanced aviation tools. Powered by an automatic caliber 30110 with a 42-hour power reserve, the case is also shielded to electromagnetism to reduce interference with cockpit instruments. An embossed green calfskin leather strap frames the timepiece, which was designed to emulate the nylon NATO straps of the military.

Patrón Launches $7,600 USD Bottle of Tequila

Patrón Tequila has teamed up with luxury crystal makers Lalique to produce a bottle of extra añejo tequila worth around $7,600 USD. The Patrón en Lalique: Serie 1 – a limited-edition crystal 700 ml decanter containing a smooth, refined and rare extra añjeo tequila that is aged for at least four years in American and French oak barrels – will retail at fine spirits retailers and in select duty-free stores across the world and is limited strictly to 500 units.

Audemars Piguet returns with a new take on its most popular model, the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. Available in four different versions — stainless steel and rose gold with either a navy blue or “Grande Tapisserie” silver dial — the reference 26574 features a larger case than its predecessors (up from 39 mm to 41 mm) so as to make both the dial and its indicators more legible. As per usual, the dial showcases day, date, astronomical moon, month and leap year displays while the 52 weeks of the year have been added in the form of an outer chapter ring and third center-mounted hand. Powering the design is a brand new caliber 5134 movement, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back.

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ref. 26574 is now available at Audemars stockists for $95,700 USD in rose gold while the steel version retails for $60,900 USD.

Breitling and Bentley teamed up to unveil the Bespoke Bentley Continental GT Breitling Jet Team series as a part of their longstanding partnership. Presented during the Seattle Boeing Seafair Airshow, the cars were created by Bentley’s Mulliner division in a limited number of seven vehicles, one for each of the seven Breitling Jet Team jets. Additionally, the owners also received the corresponding Chronomat 44 Breitling Jet Team Limited Edition numbered timepiece.

Featuring the Breitling Jet Team logo on the dial, a sleek black steel case, onyx dial and yellow accents, the watch takes from the official colors of the Jet Team’s fleet. Its case back features the Breitling Jet Team American Tour Logo with limited edition numbering.

Patek Phillippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition @ Saatchi Gallery

Now on display at London’s Saatchi Gallery is the Patek Phillippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition. Offering “a rare insider’s perspective into the art of watchmaking within a family company,” the exhibition features 400 individual exhibits across 15 themed rooms, occupying over 2000m² to “recreate the world of Patek Philippe from the company’s historic Geneva headquarters to its workshop and museum.” Also on display is a complete collection of the watchmaker’s timepieces, including complications and grand complications, as perpetual calendars and minute repeaters appear alongside the likes of the Grand Master Chime — not to mention the first Swiss wristwatch ever created, which was crafted by the company back in 1868. Artisans are even on hand to demonstrate enamelling, guilloche work and precious stone setting.

The Patek Phillippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition opened May 27 and will remain on display through June 7.
