How to transition your wardrobe from summer to autumn
Watch: Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph

We always say that summer is a great season to play with fashion and experiment with different styles. It’s a time when you can discover new things and include them in your daily outfits. However, once the autumn arrives, you should not ditch your style or feel like you need to follow a fashion routine. As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, you can easily stay stylish by following a few basic principles that will help you make the best of the cold season from a sartorial point of view.

Fabrics

If in the summer, the lightest of materials are the way to go, in the autumn you can start wearing materials that are a bit thicker in order to keep warm, but not so heavy that you sweat.

Layers

When outdoor conditions are uncertain, the best way to go in terms of fashion is layers. Instead of going for a heavy jumper for example, wear a light shirt, a vest and maybe a jacket. This way, depending on the weather conditions, you can take off either the jacket or the vest and still feel good.

Accessories

When it comes to accessories, there are some autumn essentials that will get you far during the season. Of course, umbrellas and hats are on top of the list, but overshoes and fingerless gloves can not only complete an outfit from a visual point of view, but also give you much needed protection. Luckily you won’t have to worry about your watch, if you own one similar to mine. My Rado fits perfectly with my autumn closet and I can easily match it with all my outfits.

How I Spend My Summer
Watch: Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph

Watch: Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph

Remember going back to school as a child and being asked to write “What I did on my summer vacation?” As a child who loved to write more than speak, I always looked forward to that particular assignment and the opportunity to express myself on paper.

I had big plans for this summer. I was going to organise my house and my life, and I was going to have fun with my friends and my family on the Greek islands. And I definitely did! After a very stressful and busy summer, I finally found myself in Tinos & Mykonos! I loved it. The Greek islands helped me find myself again and prepare me for my next projects! I kept my outfits easy and minimal, as you may have seen on my Instagram, and continued wearing my sporty Rado HyperChrome. Check my Instagram account @gentlemansdiarymagazine to see my entire summer photo diary.

Shopping - September Issue
3.jpg

Hello guys!

As you may already know, I love shopping! I try always to find unique pieces for my closet but also things that will fit in really easy.

I was looking for a great pair of white sneakers for the longest but I wanted a really unique piece! Thank god I found those Etro white leather sneakers! I can easily where them from day to night and the most important you will not see everyone wearing them. Go check them! I highly recommend them.

Balenciaga is so hot at the moment. Last year I bought the sock trainers and I really loved them. For this season I though why not to go for the Triple S. The ugly shoe trend is still on and even though they are really heavy, they look amazing.

4.jpg

Last but not least I wanted to buy a new backpack for everyday use. I wanted a classic piece that I could also travel with. So Louis Vuitton was definitely the one! I bough the Christopher PM and it is really comfortable and stylish.

Would you head to a big meeting with a potential client without shaving or combing your hair? Would you go to meet the top tax lawyer in your town wearing a tattered suit and worn tie? Would you set up for a presentation to a room full of bankers wearing scuffed up shoes with the soles coming off? No? You wouldn’t? Then why would you overlook your watch? Why would you not make sure that, in addition to grooming a nice suit, you wore a proper timepiece? Just as a tailored suit and fresh haircut give me confidence to go into a meeting, a good timepiece also gives me that exact feeling. It has a subconscious effect. I realize that, most of the time, people are staring at my watch but one way or another, just wearing it gives me a boost to my confidence. If you consider the business world to be a battlefield sometimes, then your timepiece is like your secret ally. Going into a presentation wearing your Rado watch makes it feel like you will be well received. That kind of confidence helps you to perform better. Is this considered insecurity? Yes! Of course it is! But why not stack the odds in your favour?

Design Fascinates Me
DSC03123.JPG

Because design is a process, much like editing, where you start with a general concept, then hone it as close to perfection as you can within a given deadline, achieving perfect balance is what fascinates me about it.

I consider myself lucky enough to have designer friends that have taught me a lot of things. Thats why I appreciate things with great designs. II look for it on my clothes, on my shoes and of course on my watch. Designs with balance!

I found the watch design that fits me the most on my Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph.

6 Ways Vodka Is Actually Pretty Good For Your Health
1520352979-gettyimages-89773109-1519846558.jpg

Vodka was made for so much more than mules and martinis. It may surprise you to learn that the spirit was actually invented as a source of medicine and to this day, the colorless, odorless drink has a number of health benefits. So the next time you're debating what kind of cocktail to order, consider this:

1. Vodka has disinfectant properties.

Vodka is a natural disinfectant and antiseptic. It has been used to treat toothaches, clean wounds, and clean your house, though you probably shouldn't swap it out for your regular household disinfectant.

2. It can relieve stress.

You may have heard that red wine is a natural relaxer, but it's nothing compared to vodka, which has been scientifically proven to relieve tension better than vino.

3. It's heart-healthy.

Vodka can increase blood-flow and circulation in your body which can prevent clots, strokes, and other heart diseases. (It was an animal study, though, so take with a grain of salt.) Vodka can also help lower your cholesterol. And, for those watching their weight, it's also generally considered a lower-calorie alcohol.

4. It contributes to oral hygiene.

We already mentioned how vodka can soothe toothaches, but swishing a shot of it can help combat bad breath as well.

5. It can alleviate symptoms caused by arthritis.

Apparently, patients who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and had semi-regular vodka drinks throughout the month felt less pain and inflammation associated with their disease, according to this study.

6. It reduces risks associated with diabetes.

Unlike beer or wine, a shot of vodka can actually reduce blood sugar levels. This is most effective when taken straight: never has there been a better excuse for a martini.

So ladies and gentlemen, do not hesitate! Just order a Grey Goose on the rocks and enjoy the benefits of the vodka.

How To Reduce Body Fat In 10 Easy Steps
39169744_10217598230246862_4129518185026158592_n.jpg

The perfect six-pack is not a myth. In fact, you already own it – it’s just hiding under belly fat. And since you can’t spot-reduce fat in specific areas, the key to losing belly fat is reducing your overall body fat percentage. The magic number is 10% to put your abs centre stage, but there are myriad health benefits to lowering your body fat percentage.

Firstly – and quite simply – you will live longer. The higher your body fat percentage, the lower your life expectancy. Being overweight or obese significantly increases your chance of dying from heart disease, diabetes or cancer, as well as suffering many other health problems.

But losing weight doesn’t just help you live longer – it also helps you get more enjoyment out of your longer life. Multiple studies have shown that losing weight increases your mood and positivity, makes food taste better, improves your libido and sex life, helps your brain fire on all cylinders and reduces expenditure on unhealthy habits.

1. Reduce your daily intake of liquid calories

When you’re trying to lose body fat, one thing that will undoubtedly help your cause is to stop drinking so many calories – especially those high-sugar, nutrient-light drinks.

2. Get enough kip

“Seven to eight hours is the target,” says fitness model and PT Alex Crockford. “When your body is at rest is when your muscles grow and recover after exercise.” If you’re training like a demon but sleeping like a nocturnal ’90s raver you’ll burn out and end up packing on the pounds.

3. Eat more

Yes, you read that right. The key, though, is what to load up on. Add two fistfuls of green veg to every meal. They're nutrient-dense but low on calories – so they'll fill you up without being fattening, and keep you healthy.

4. Drink a glass of water with every meal

It'll keep your body hydrated and full, and keep your metabolism online.

5. Enjoy eating out

Don't be the man ordering steamed chicken breast – as long as you're getting a decent hit of protein and green veg, the steak and spinach is fine. Just leave the frites for another day.

6. Get stronger

Not everyone's first priority, but lifting more weight will make any workout more intense. By adding 1.5kg worth of muscle to your body you have the potential to burn 1,050 extra calories a week, according to a study by the University of Michigan. Aim to progress in big, compound lifts like the power clean and squat, and every workout becomes a fat-burner.

7. Slow it down

Low-intensity steady state cardio (LISS) lowers the stress hormone, which is great as cortisol  turns you into a fat-storage unit. Plus, a long slow jog will burn more calories than a short, sharp circuit. Even better, LISS can act as active recovery the day after an intense session so you get the best of both worlds.

8. Get a taste for spicier food

Capsaicin, the compound that gives chilli peppers their heat, will also play merry havoc your metabolism. Add paprika to your home-made burgers – you, uh, do make them from scratch, right? – and turn them into a fat-burning feast.

9. Increase your vitamin D levels.

This doesn’t include sitting in the sun for hours on end. Vitamin D absorbed from food is essential for the preservation of muscle tissue. You can get 90% of your recommended daily intake from a 100g piece of salmon. So eat plenty of fish, eggs, milk and cereals to get your intake up.

10. Get your fibre on

Research has shown that some fibre can fire up your fat burning by as much as 30%. These studies have found that those who are consuming the most amount of fibre are gaining less weight over a period of time. It’s best to aim for around 25g per day – start by adding wholegrains to your diet.

Spending The Day By The Sea
Total Outfit: Hackett London by Shop And Trade

Total Outfit: Hackett London by Shop And Trade

Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.

Though closer still the blinds we pull
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two
To slip his golden fingers through.

The dusty attic spider-clad
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad;
And through the broken edge of tiles
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.

Meantime his golden face around
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look
Among the ivy's inmost nook.

Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.

1. Remember your vitamin D.

If you’re being diligent with the sunscreen you might not be getting quite as much D as you think. Our bodies produce vitamin D from the sun’s UV rays. But sunscreen blocks UV absorption, and therefore prevents the production of vitamin D. Focus on getting your fill through food sources instead, like egg yolks and fatty fish like salmon, tuna, or sardines.

2. Snack on homemade pickles for something crunchy.

Instead of getting your crunch fix from a bag of potato chips or paying an arm and a leg for a jar of artisanal pickles, make your own on the cheap with cucumbers from the farmer’s market.

Fill a large jar with equal parts water and vinegar, along with a healthy pinch of salt, whole peppercorns, garlic cloves, and fresh dill. Add as many sliced cukes as will fit and marinate in the fridge for one to two days before eating. They’re a flavorful, low-calorie snack. And yes, they count as a serving of veggies!

3. Guzzle a glass of ice water before meals.

It’s an easy rule to help you stay hydrated, sure. But that’s not all. Drinking water before a meal could help you eat fewer calories, making it easier to keep your weight in check. As an added bonus? The icy cold water might give your metabolism a slight boost. Skip the sodas and add fresh lemons and cucumbers to your water so you get a little more excited about drinking it.

4. Eat your sunscreen.

There's a reason watermelon is the fruit of the summer. Yes, because nothing tastes better than a slice of the pink melon on a hot day, but it's also rich in lycopene, an antioxidant that can help protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays, says registered dietitian Amy Goodson. It’s no substitute for sunscreen—but every little bit helps, right?

5. Drink pomegranate juice after a sweat session.

Outdoor summer workouts mean extra sweat, which can throw your electrolyte levels out of whack and leave you dehydrated. But pomegranate juice is loaded with potassium, an electrolyte mineral that can help you rehydrate and encourage your muscles to recover faster.

6. Don't forget to hydrate during happy hour.

The combo of alcohol and tons of sugar means that summer happy-hour favorites like frosé and margaritas leave you bloated and dehydrated. (Not a fun combo when it’s hot and sticky outside.) Swap them for lower sugar drinks like plain rosé, gin and club soda, or a Paloma, Savage recommends. And have a glass of water withyour drink instead of in-between drinks.

Summer Rooftop Parties
DSC03422.jpg

If we know one thing for sure, it's that summer is the best time to party. And what better than to throw a summer rooftop party?

The only things that you have to think about are: the music, the guest and of course the drinks!

Music: the worst thing that it can happened is to have dead music in your party! Choose songs that are hot and you can set your party on fire!

The guests: Spending your night with just your beloved one or with your friends or even with 200 guests it depends on you. Just choose the right ones for you.

Drinks: Probably the most important thing when it comes to parties! Drinks must be fine and well made! Vodka is the it summer drink and it will help you also make various cocktails. I choose Grey Goose because it is the most tasteful vodka out there and my favorite cocktail at the moment is the ''Le Grand Fizz''.

Europe’s Q-Yachts pursues avant-garde boat design, with a contemporary design bent. The company’s latest creation is the Q30, a revolutionary yacht that utilizes a completely silent propulsion system and zero-emission electric motor. Its clean white design ensures that the Q30 is as easy on the eyes as it is the ears, with sleek lines, a hydro-dynamically-optimized hull (for producing minimal wake) and surprisingly spacious below-deck cabin. Touch screens grant the helmsman complete control over the boat and access to a digital map, while the beach deck towards the rear offers a variety of functions and storage space. Though the cabin is minimal, the clever use of space makes for an impressively-expansive lounge area, complete with mirror, air conditioning and sink.

How To Dress In Summer
Watch: Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph

Watch: Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph

The sun is out, temperature is up, and you’re left wondering how to dress during this season and keep looking sharp.

You want to dress well, but you also want to stay comfortable. (And you’re absolutely right, because obvious discomfort is the most unstylish thing a man can wear.)

Well, dressing well in summer isn’t as hard as you might think.

You don’t need multiple layers to look your best. You can look great wearing just a single layer and by choosing the right accessories. And if you invest in summer-appropriate fabrics like linen and cotton, you can even still wear layers without ending up a sweaty mess. Linen is probably my favorite one and has been the warm weather cloth of choice for centuries for good reason. It’s super lightweight, breathable, and absorbs moisture exceptionally well. Adding an all time classic watch to your outfit will upgrated and will make you stand out from the crowd. I choose the HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph, an automatic watch made of plasma high-tech ceramic. A very durable watch which means I do not have to worry about it and enjoy my summertime.
