Hennessey Venom GT

American carmaker Hennessey‘s Venom GT can now lay claim to the title of world’s fastest production car after reaching a top speed of 270.49 mph. Verified by Guinness World Records, the Venom GT just edged out the previous record of 269.86 mph set by the Bugatti Veyron in 2010. While Hennessey has claimed for a while now that its Venom GT is the world’s fastest car, it wasn’t until NASA allowed the company use of its landing runway in Florida that it was able to verify its claim. Test driver Brian Smith believes that the record would be higher given enough space, stating “It was still pulling, if we could run on an eight-mile oval, we could go faster than that.”
