A good overcoat should be warm, fit you, and make you look great.
Fabric. If you plan to wear your overcoat for years to come, make sure you buy a coat that is made of 100% wool and that it weighs at least 4 pounds (for average-sized men). In general, heavier coats last longer because the fabric is more durable.
Sleeves. The coat sleeves should completely cover the suit sleeve as well as the shirt cuff, and even reach a little further down. This way, you should not get cold on your wrists when you wear gloves with it.
Length. Traditionally, overcoats were rather long-reaching garments, extending almost all the way to the ankles. These full-length coats are often the coat of choice for seasoned gentlemen as they can compliment a wide range of figures…to include those of us a bit rounder in the midsection.
Today, most younger men wear their coats knee-length, which is anywhere between the lower part of the knee to slightly above. This only compliments men with trim builds and who wear the coat closer to the body. It’s a convenient option if you find yourself entering and exiting your automobile multiple times a day.
If you pick a full-length or knee-length coat is a matter of choice, but bear in mind that the full-length coat may be warmer, and can make you look a little more seasoned than the knee-length coat.
Fit. When you buy an overcoat, make sure to wear a shirt and a sportscoat or suit jacket because the coat has to fit on top of it.
Some men like a looser fit while younger men often prefer a trimmer fit. However, if you see X-wrinkles when buttoning your overcoat, it is definitely too
Diesel celebrates the power of imperfection with its “Go With the Flaw” fall advertising campaign.
“Being unique is much more beautiful than being perfect,” explained Diesel artistic director Nicola Formichetti. “Change the way you look at things so even the bad becomes positive, overcoming obstacles and fears. You’ll have the best life possible.”
So I decided to go with the flaw as well with the following photoshoot. I wore an IM PERFECT t-shirt even if I am not. I embraced it and I felt really happy.
For Milan Fashion Week FW16 Day 2 I chose a total Diesel Black Gold outfit. I was obsessed by the new BDG type of jeans which fit absolutely amazing. I attended the Verscae, Phillip Plein, Etro, Missoni shows and many many more and I had the best time.
Of course and my latest and true addiction was with me! This amazing IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph in stainless steel with black rubber strap. Design and engineer at its best! Never doubt swiss power!
Diesel Black Gold presented its Spring/Summer 2016 collection during Milan Fashion Week. For this collection, creative director Andreas Melbostad reworked an adventurous safari inspiration setting it in an industrial, metropolitan scenario.
Through a modernist approach, the utilitarian and the urban are combined in the collection, which is rooted in a stark, masculine aesthetic. The cold color palette, ranging from chalk white and pale gray to black and blue, enhances the sharp attitude.
New volumes are introduced in the outerwear. Survival jackets, bombers and parkas featuring pockets, flaps and adjusters, are cut for an oversized fit. These contrast with the skinny silhouettes of denim pants, which are cut extra long to achieve a crushed effect. They also come in textured versions with horizontal patches stitched all the way up the leg or are coated for a glossy vinyl-like effect.
Layering is at the core of the collection. Elongated utility vests, as well as iconic leather biker jackets embellished with grommets and lace-up details, are worn over sweatshirts trimmed with striped details and the season’s new shirts – long zippered poplin styles with funnel necks and long sleeves.
Everything is infused with an irreverent feel, also echoing in tailoring, where suits feature safari pockets and utilitarian details.
Emphasizing the urban, adventurous and functional spirit of the collection, footwear includes chunky basketball-inspired high-tops, as well as canvas desert boots with rubber soles, new biker styles and suede chukka boots.
Minimal, utilitarian bags, worn across the body or hunkered down the waist, are perfectly incorporated into the looks.
Diesel Black Gold is introducing its first watch, a new milestone of the brand’s continuous expansion into the accessories business. The watch is a unisex timepiece that embodies the irreverent, free-spirited, urban soul of the Diesel Black Gold contemporary label.
Designed by the Diesel Black Gold creative team, the watch – which perfectly combines functionality and aesthetics – has a captivating rock-chic look. The elegant and minimal round face features the iconic Diesel logo in gold, while the black strap is crafted out of high-end embossed leather. The crystal is slightly domed, bringing a touch of sophistication to the watch. The classic round case measures 42 millimeters in diameter, with a high-tech Swiss quartz mechanism and a date display beside the number “3.”
Reflecting the brand’s attention to detail, the back of the case is embossed with the “Only Time Will Tell” motto. The Diesel Black Gold watch comes with an exclusive customized package and is available at selected Diesel Black Gold and Diesel flagship stores.
Independent and anti-preppy, a gang of students at Diesel’s college inspire the Diesel Men’s Spring/Summer 2015 Pre Collection. The idea has led artistic director Nicola Formichetti to create one strong vision for men and women. Spun out into sub styles of Preppy Rock, Tattoo andBlack Carpet, the lineup includes sporty logo jackets and sweaters, graphic embellished casual wear and a subversive take on classic evening wear. Diesel’s lifeblood, leather and denim are handled with new prints and washes in keeping with the brand’s ability to evolve and innovate.
“Inspiration is all about student life on campus and off – maybe it’s about the people that never went to school, the college dropouts. The collection is an evolution of FW 2014, and Diesel’s DNA of denim, leather and military which is all present and combined with a strong pop and sporty look and colors,” Formichetti said.
A few days ago i had the chance to make a photoshoot with Diesel featuring pieces from their Fall/Winter 2014-15 collection. The vibe was rock for sure and i felt like being in a rock music festival. The one piece that stood out the most was the military wool jacket. One of Nicola Formichetti's favorite piece. Inspired by the original military uniform. Short on the waist because it was originally worn with high waist pants, felt wool and with big frontal pockets, this is the true vintage wool military jacket and we love it. Of course i felt in love also with that leather studded biker jacket. A true master piece. Visit now their official site here and check every single piece. Take a look of the photos below and feel free to share your thoughts.
