Ford GTR1 $1 Million Supercar

Although ultimately short-lived, Ford’s beloved GT – a mid-engine two-seater produced from 2004 through 2006 as an ode to the GT40 racers of the ’60s – was recently resurrected by Galpin Auto Sports for a showcase at this year’s Quail Motorsports Gathering in Monterey, California. Starting with the 2005 model, Galpin tapped Doug Breuninger – an Art Center student at the time – to re-envision the sports car as a powerful supercar. The result is the carbon fiber/aluminum GTR1. Ultimately constructed by concept builders Gaffoglio, the GTR1 boasts a massive twin-turbocharged V8 engine capable of 1,024 horsepower, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds, and a top speed of 225 mph. Kicking off with an initial run of six cars before ultimately finishing off with 24 builds in all, Galpin’s Ford GTR1 will be priced at more than $1 million USD.
