The Enclave House in Melbourne
BKK Architects
have completed the designed for the Enclave House, a contemporary
extension for a heritage residence located in Melbourne, Australia. The
new building boasts spacious and open interiors, with minimalist
furniture arrangement. According to the architects, the project “required clever solutions and planning in order to overcome the restricted inner-city site”. The extension consists of a single volume, especially carved to let plenty of natural light inside. Despite its high degree of openness, the inhabitants enjoy a good amount of privacy: “Deep
reveals to the upper floor windows shield the gaze from the surrounding
neighbors. This also gives the residence a profound sense of
containment, like a protective cocoon. The private courtyard garden
links the studio space with the main residence. The landscape has been
manipulated to frame the views between the two“. Add a generously-sized swimming pool and the image of a luxurious modern home is complete.
